Editorial Policy
The standards we hold ourselves to. If we fall short of them, tell us — corrections make the publication better.
Our commitment
Independence first. Our readers are engineers and engineering leaders, and our only obligation is to them.Editorial independence
Our coverage is decided by our editors, not by advertisers, sponsors or vendors. No party outside the newsroom reviews or approves editorial content before publication.
Fact checking
Claims of fact are checked against primary sources. Technical instructions are verified against the specific software versions we cite, and we note where we could not verify a claim.
Corrections
When we get something wrong, we fix it and say so. Substantive corrections are noted on the article with the date and what changed.
Sponsored content disclosure
Sponsored articles are labelled “Sponsored” at the top of the piece and in listings. Sponsors do not influence our independent editorial coverage.
Affiliate disclosure
Where a link earns us a commission, we disclose it. Affiliate relationships never determine whether or how we cover a product.
AI-assisted content policy
We use AI tools to assist research and drafting. Every published article is reviewed and edited by a human who is accountable for its accuracy. We do not publish unedited machine-generated content.
Author standards
Authors write within their area of expertise, disclose conflicts of interest, and are credited by name with a bio and, where relevant, their prior experience.
Source attribution
We attribute facts, data and quotations to their sources and link to primary material wherever possible so readers can verify our work.
