DevOps Engineer (Observability)
Twilio·Remote, Ireland
Twilio is hiring a DevOps Engineer for observability, a remote role based in Ireland. The Platform Engineering Observability team owns how telemetry flows through Twilio and how it gets used, with the aim of keeping it structured, accessible, affordable and actionable.
What you would work on - Leading the architecture and delivery of components in the observability platform - Bringing consistency to logs, metrics, traces and profiling data across the estate - Designing tooling and APIs that engineers can actually use when debugging or responding to incidents - Working with open source standards, OpenTelemetry in particular, rather than bespoke pipelines - Handling the awkward parts of high cardinality telemetry at volume - Mentoring other engineers and guiding architectural decisions
What they are looking for - Demonstrated experience building and scaling observability systems - Good working knowledge of Go, Python or Java - Experience with high scale telemetry systems such as Prometheus, ClickHouse, OpenTelemetry and Kafka, including the problems high cardinality data creates - A solid understanding of distributed systems and microservice environments - AWS, Kubernetes and infrastructure as code experience - Comfort with a remote first setup, noting that the posting mentions occasional in person team gatherings
Stack: OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, ClickHouse, Kafka, Grafana Mimir, Kubernetes, AWS, S3, Athena, Go, Python, Java
