Lead, Platform Engineering
MongoDB·Gurugram, India
MongoDB's Infrastructure Engineering group runs the self-service internal platform that the company's own engineering teams use to deploy and operate production services. This lead role in Gurugram combines hands on platform work with line management of a small group of platform engineers, so you would keep writing code as well as setting direction.
What you would work on - Scoping, planning and delivering projects on the internal developer platform - Managing and developing direct reports while staying close to the technical detail - Sitting with product engineering teams to find where the current development workflow slows them down - Writing and reviewing automation, configuration management and application code rather than only specifying it - Producing and critiquing functional specifications for the larger platform initiatives - Operating the platform day to day alongside colleagues spread across PST, EST, GMT and IST
What they are looking for - Two or more years managing and mentoring a team of at least three engineers - Five or more years owning the design and delivery of substantial software or infrastructure projects - A record of building and running large distributed systems on public cloud, with AWS preferred - Strong backend engineering, with Go fluency strongly preferred or another compiled, strongly typed language - Production Kubernetes operations, practical SLI and SLO work, and observability across metrics, logs and traces - Linux and TCP/IP fluency, familiarity with OAuth and OIDC, CI/CD used for real production releases, and experience getting useful output from AI coding agents by supplying good context
This is a hybrid role based in Gurugram, with a flexible working arrangement stated in the posting.
Stack: Go, AWS, Kubernetes, Crossplane, Terraform, Helm, Drone, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, OAuth, OIDC, Linux
