Manager I, Engineering - Cloud FinOps
Datadog·New York, NY, USA
Datadog's Cloud FinOps team answers a question the finance side of the business depends on: what it actually costs to serve each product and each customer. This engineering manager role leads the team that builds and runs the cloud cost allocation platform, in a hybrid post based in New York.
What you would work on - Leading and growing the engineering team behind the cost allocation platform - Owning the publication contract with Finance, which means versioned metrics carrying effective dates and a history that can be reproduced on demand - Agreeing metric contracts with platform teams so cost accountability sits with the groups that generate the spend - Working with Revenue Engineering to line up cost identities against revenue identities - Widening coverage and improving the accuracy of per product and per customer cost figures - Spreading architectural ownership across the team so the platform does not depend on any single person
What they are looking for - Experience managing data platform or data engineering teams, not just individual contributors - A track record shipping versioned publications with effective dating, backfill and reproducible history - Comfort holding firm delivery commitments to teams outside your own - Domain knowledge in at least one of metering, usage based billing, cloud cost or financial data platforms - The ability to work without a product manager, setting contracts and driving the roadmap yourself - Background with audited or Finance closed systems, SOX scoped work, or retrieval grounded systems is treated as a plus
Stack: Claude Code, Cursor
Compensation: The employer publishes a range of $192,000 to $240,000 USD.
