Platform Engineer - Kubernetes
Elastic·Remote, USA
Elastic is hiring a platform engineer into a small team that looks after the application hosting infrastructure, which runs on Kubernetes in Google Cloud. The team leans heavily on automation and treats security as part of the build rather than a later review. The role is based in the United States, at a company that describes itself as distributed.
What you would work on - Designing and rolling out scalable infrastructure entirely through infrastructure as code - Building and maintaining the CI/CD pipelines that internal teams ship through - Keeping the platform compliant, and taking part in incident response and CVE remediation - Supporting the internal engineers who use the platform, and spreading knowledge so the team is not a bottleneck - Watching cloud spend and tuning resource usage where it is wasteful - Feeding user feedback back into platform usability improvements
What they are looking for - A computer science degree or equivalent practical background - Five or more years with infrastructure as code tooling such as Terraform or Crossplane - Five or more years across a major cloud, whether AWS, Azure or Google Cloud - Kubernetes and Cloud Native Associate certification, or demonstrable equivalent knowledge - Understanding of service mesh architecture, with Istio and Linkerd named - Familiarity with cloud security practice and with cost management tooling - Some leadership experience improving a platform based on what its users report - Elasticsearch experience is listed as preferred rather than required
Stack: Kubernetes, Google Cloud, AWS, Azure, Terraform, Crossplane, Istio, Linkerd, Elasticsearch
Compensation: The employer publishes a range of $94,300 to $149,200 USD, rising to $113,300 to $179,200 USD for Seattle, Los Angeles, the San Francisco Bay Area and the New York metro area.
