Senior Software Engineer - Kubernetes Orchestration

New Relic·Bengaluru, India

Posted Sep 21, 2026

New Relic is hiring a senior software engineer into Container Fabric, the organisation that runs the company's global internal platform, based in Bangalore. Container Fabric operates the large scale Kubernetes environments the rest of engineering builds on. Most of your time would go into the operators and controllers that let that fleet manage itself, and New Relic offers a flexible model covering office based, remote and hybrid working.

What you would work on - Designing and building internal tooling, with particular emphasis on Kubernetes operators and controllers - Leading infrastructure changes that affect a whole fleet rather than a single cluster - Owning incident response, writing the retrospectives and hardening systems so the same failure does not recur - Handling day one and day two operational work across a large number of clusters - Mentoring engineers in other time zones and steering projects across team boundaries

What they are looking for - Roughly five to eight years in DevOps, site reliability or infrastructure engineering - Detailed knowledge of Kubernetes internals and real experience writing custom operators - A record of building production grade infrastructure automation tooling - Experience handling high severity incidents on a large Kubernetes fleet - Exposure to more than one cloud provider, including operating system migration work - Golang, Karpenter, Terraform, Crossplane, Cluster API and Argo CD are named as useful additions rather than hard requirements

Stack: Kubernetes, Golang, Karpenter, Terraform, Crossplane, Cluster API, Argo CD, AWS, Azure
