Senior Software Reliability Engineer - Data Platform

Okta is recruiting a Senior Software Reliability Engineer for its Data Platform team in Toronto, on a hybrid basis. The team builds the foundational data services and data products the rest of Okta relies on, spanning streaming analytics, end user reporting, the data and machine learning platforms, and product telemetry.

What you would work on - Designing, implementing and owning data heavy platform components built for throughput and scale - Working with other engineering teams through the design and delivery of shared projects - Running design and code reviews, and the performance analysis and tuning that follows - Investigating production problems that cut across several service layers - Raising the bar on data quality and data observability - Coaching and mentoring engineers as the organisation grows

What they are looking for - At least three years of industry experience - Two or more years writing object oriented code, ideally in Java - Experience with cloud based distributed computing: messaging systems, data processing, storage and compute, and orchestration tooling - A background building and tuning highly scalable distributed systems - Sound grounding in multithreading, garbage collection and memory management - Reliability engineering experience covering incident management and data observability, with participation in an on call rotation

Compensation: The employer publishes a range of 136,000 to 187,000 CAD.
