Posted Sep 21, 2026

Stripe is hiring a Software Engineer onto its Core Infrastructure team in Sydney, part of the wider Infrastructure and Corporate Tech organisation. The team builds and operates the infrastructure that every Stripe product team depends on, with scale, availability, efficiency and latency as the stated priorities.

What you would work on - Designing, building and running distributed cloud infrastructure and the platform services layered on top of it - Improving how those services scale, and automating the operational work around them - Raising reliability and observability across the infrastructure estate - Debugging live issues and supporting the internal teams that build on the platform - Contributing to roadmap planning and helping decide what the team takes on next

What they are looking for - Five or more years of professional software development experience - Experience building, deploying and managing infrastructure on a major cloud provider - A strong distributed systems background at scale, together with operating system knowledge - Skill at diagnosing faults in distributed systems and tracking down resource constraints - Familiarity with modern observability practice: distributed tracing, structured logging and system level metrics - Willingness to work from the Sydney office, since Stripe expects office assigned staff in most locations to spend at least half of each month there

Stack: Go, Rust, C, C++, Linux, Kubernetes, AWS, Azure, GCP, Oracle Cloud

Compensation: The employer publishes a range of A$166,400 to A$249,600 per year.
