Software Engineer - Reliability (US Citizen)

Rubrik is hiring a reliability engineer into the team that keeps its infrastructure services running and sized for growth. The role leans strongly towards the data layer, covering relational database operations alongside the Kubernetes and backend systems that sit behind the Polaris Cloud Platform. It is an onsite position at the Palo Alto headquarters.

What you would work on - Keeping databases highly available and durable, and designing relational systems for performance and recoverability - Setting query performance standards that other engineering teams work to - Running periodic database upgrades with as little customer visible downtime as possible - Looking after backend infrastructure including Kubernetes and MySQL - Driving reliability, availability and efficiency improvements across the Polaris Cloud Platform - Writing code, reviewing changes, building monitoring and automation, and debugging production incidents - Supporting work towards FedRAMP certification

What they are looking for - Two or more years designing and running relational databases with attention to performance, scale, high availability and disaster recovery - One to three years in a development, DevOps or site reliability role - Experience operating a database layer for a large scale SaaS product under enterprise SLOs and SLAs - Coding ability in one or more of Golang, Python, Java, Scala or C++ - Skill in analysing and troubleshooting large distributed systems, plus strong Unix and Linux operations and networking knowledge - Google Cloud Platform or comparable public cloud experience, with FedRAMP exposure strongly desired - United States citizenship at time of hire, residence in the contiguous United States, willingness to undergo a Single Source Background Investigation, and availability for follow the sun on-call covering 24/7
