Staff Engineer, Core Infrastructure
Stripe·Bengaluru, India
Stripe's Regional Enablement Platform team sits within Core Infrastructure and exists so that launching or operating a new region does not mean learning about broken dependencies from users. This staff engineering role in Bengaluru covers regionalisation work, validation tooling and the safety mechanisms around deploys, migrations and failovers.
What you would work on - Deciding, on evidence rather than instinct, when a regional launch, traffic migration or failover is genuinely ready - Finding and reducing risk on the payment paths that cannot fail, by interrogating system data - Leading cross-functional delivery of infrastructure for new regions, including safety around remote control planes - Building reusable validation tooling that other teams can apply when integrating with infrastructure - Turning recurring operational friction into proper platform capability, and debugging production issues across the stack - Setting multi-year technical direction with quarterly milestones and success measures, and mentoring senior engineers from Bangalore
What they are looking for - A degree in computer science or the equivalent, with twelve or more years in software or infrastructure engineering - Demonstrated leadership on complex cross-team infrastructure projects with demanding reliability and scale requirements - A distributed systems, platform or backend infrastructure background, including scaling and migrating systems with minimal downtime - Working proficiency with at least one of AWS, Azure, GCP or OCI, and operational habits around metrics, alarms and dashboards - Clear written technical communication, particularly design documents and trade-off analysis - Willingness to collaborate with distributed teams across the Americas, Europe and Asia Pacific; the role is based onsite in Bengaluru
Three or more years of Go, strong observability skills, and prior work on failovers, control planes, service discovery, traffic routing or cross-region dependency risk are listed as preferred.
Stack: Go, AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, Linux, MongoDB, PostgreSQL
