Staff Software Engineer - Databases SRE

Grafana Labs is hiring a Staff Software Engineer for Databases SRE, a fully remote role based in Germany. The SRE team is embedded in the Mimir, Loki and Tempo squads and is accountable for the reliability of Grafana Cloud's database products for the customers on the highest service level agreements.

What you would work on - Owning production reliability for high SLA customer environments alongside the product squads - Writing automation so reliability practice scales rather than depending on manual effort - Defining and refining per tenant service level objectives and the reliability models behind them - Acting as the senior escalation point and taking part in on call for these systems - Leading incident response where customers are affected, and running the reviews afterwards - Influencing feature design so that what ships can actually be operated and scaled, and cutting noisy alerts

What they are looking for - Around eight years of engineering experience, at least four of them in SRE, CRE or production engineering - Substantial Kubernetes experience on AWS, GCP or Azure - Production experience with multi tenant systems and a track record of designing and implementing SLOs - Fluency in a programming language such as Go, Python or Java - Comfort reasoning about Linux internals, networking, cloud storage, scaling and failure modes - Experience leading technically and mentoring others; the posting lists Germany as the base but also considers candidates in the UK, Sweden or Spain

Compensation: The employer publishes a German base range of 109,709 to 131,651 EUR.
