Staff SRE for K8s Platform Team (AWS, Kubernetes, Platform Creation, Helm, Karpenter, Istio)

Okta's Workforce Identity Cloud platform team builds and runs the Kubernetes platforms that the company's cloud native applications are deployed onto. This staff SRE role in Bengaluru is hands on with the AWS estate underneath those clusters and with the tooling other engineering teams rely on to ship.

What you would work on - Designing Kubernetes platforms that stay available when individual components fail, tuned for production workloads - Building out and optimising the AWS layer beneath them, covering EKS, ECS, VPCs, RDS, S3 and IAM - Maintaining Helm charts that teams can deploy from safely - Using Karpenter so that cluster capacity follows actual workload demand - Configuring Istio for service to service traffic, along with the security and telemetry that comes with it - Responding to incidents touching performance, availability or security, and documenting procedures for other teams

What they are looking for - Five or more years working with Kubernetes, Helm, Karpenter and Istio - Eight or more years with infrastructure as code tooling such as Terraform, Chef or Ansible - Eight or more years across serverless and microservice architectures, including AWS Lambda and API Gateway - Demonstrable AWS depth spanning EKS, ECS, RDS, S3, CloudFormation and IAM - Scripting and automation in Python or Go, plus CI/CD tooling such as Jenkins, GitLab, CircleCI or Spinnaker - Monitoring and logging with Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch or the ELK stack

Multi-region cloud work, Docker, cloud and Kubernetes security practice, a computer science or engineering degree, and CKA, CKAD or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer certification are all listed as preferred. The role is hybrid and based in Bengaluru.
